Movie: Hancock
I saw Hancock last night and despite some of the pretty bad reviews I had read over at RottenTomatoes.com I thought the film was really good. The story ended up having an unexpected twist that I found to be a great addition to the story (no, I'm not going to ruin it). Bottom line, this is a good movie to take just about anyone to... I would probably limit little children from being in the audience though since there are quite a few adult themes (cursing, alcoholism, people getting their heads rammed up another guys read end, etc). I'd definitely see it again... screw the critics.
Movie: Wanted
Being stuck in a cube for the last few years as a software developer this movie brought about reminiscence of Office Space. The repetitive cycle that occurs on nearly a daily basis of each individual in an office setting. I'd say what stands out the most to me is the massive amount of gratuitous violence in the film. Human shields, brutal beatings of reprogramming and exploding rats filled with C4-laden peanut butter. It was totally a guy movie... but the women that I went with really seemed to enjoy it as well. Probably the biggest let down was Angelina Jolie... she just didn't pull it off in this movie for me. Her part was pretty boring in contrast to that of the and lacked the ultra sex appeal that I've experienced in her previous films. On another note... James McAvoy was totally awesome! Throughout the movie during his transition from pathetic office cubehead to trained assassin the whole "oh shit I am going to totally die now but that was so cool" look on his face during action scenes really pulled me into the film and his character. A must see if you're into this type of movie!
Movie: Wall-E
Okay... WOW! I would have to say that Disney's Wall-E is probably one of the best films I have seen in several years. The animation was phenomenal... the story was perfect for anyone... and it made me feel like a little kid watching the Disney classes I grew up with. I would recommend this movie to anyone... it's just awesome! I wasn't entirely sure what to expect other than a robot falling in love with a better robot but the movie turns out to also touch several topics (obesity in our culture from being lazy, all the things we throw away that someone else may find special, how the world could end up if things around here don't change, etc). Great movie. I will probably try to get my parents to go see it this weekend because I am sure they would really enjoy it.
