Gotta love sinus infections…
What a way to start off the new year! A horrible sinus infection where it feels as though someone is jamming an ice pick into my face. Thankfully, I took the rest of the week off... so I can hopefully get over this as quick as possible. I'm sure the sub-freezing temperatures as of late haven't helped much. I'm going to try this Xlear stuff I found on the web... apparently they only sell it in health food stores so that's where I'll be after work.
Where did I stick that Windows cd?
Okay. I am sick and tired of my computer bogging down for no reason (other than being bloated with software I no longer use and it not being formatted in over 2 years). So I decided to format it and have a nice clean install of everything. The question? Where did I put my Windows cd?
I spent an hour and a half looking through every packed box (probably 15 boxes worth of stuff) to come up empty handed. I did find the cd case containing the cd key but no cd. WTF? I started really getting annoyed after looking for an hour and a half. I decided I must have lost it during the move. I began putting my closet back together and taking items from the shelving above my clothes where I had stuffed the items from the boxes while on my search. What do you know? The cd is just sitting there all by itself on the top shelf. I'm not sure how it got there... why it wasn't in its case... but I was quite relieved.
I plopped it into my tray and rebooted (having already backed everything up) and got on my merry way. The sad part? It took less time for me to do a complete install (format the hard drive and install windows) than it takes my work laptop to go from off to usable. WOW! Sad.
Roundabouts… sigh.
The city I live in, which is a suberb of Indianapolis, has been putting in roundabouts for a few years from what I understand. Recently the decision was made to utilize roundabouts in several major intersections in an attempt to decrease traffic issues.
Don't get me wrong, I think they are a great idea... it is nice to not have to sit at a light for 5 minutes when no traffic is coming. The problem is that people aren't taught how to drive on them properly. They cut you off, change lains without looking and fail to yield frequently... I know from my own experience that people are just plain roundabout stupid. Every morning when commuting to work there is a pretty good chance of watching somebody do something idiodic because they don't know how to drive on them properly.
So, results of opening a new roundabout? Not great. It opened at 6 AM and by 6:30 AM 2 people had been killed. Yeah. Okay. Great. I am so not looking forward to having these things in a ton of intersections around 5pm.
Not cool...
